The Waiting Game

People hate waiting, especially when there’s tension about whether or not a preferred outcome will occur. If you know the result, even if it’s terrible, at least you know what you’re dealing with and can try to adapt or remedy the problem, or even come to terms with whatever it is you are facing.

But when you don’t know the results, you’re stuck in a period of tension where you’re unsure of what’s coming around the bend. So how do we deal with this level of constant uncertainty, especially when it’s tough to figure out what we can rely on in order to move forward.

When one is trying to move forward, it helps to have a rock to kick off of. Some platform that, even if you don’t know what’s next, you have ground beneath you to move forward from.

If we’re lucky, we can rely on those close to us to provide us with that support we need. If we’re not as fortunate, we can always look within towards the reason why we get up in the morning. It could be freedom, it could be your family, it could be trying to lead a meaningful life – at the end of the day we all have a Why that is at the core of why we do what we do, and if all else is stripped away, it’s the only thing we can rely on.

So what is your why, and what does it look like to fall back on that pillar?
