Outcasts are often outcast not because of hate or jealousy, but because of fear.
Outcasts question the status quo, reimagining what could be, as opposed to settling for what is currently. They push against norms, innovating new ways of being and taking the risk of having other people dislike them.
They’re willing to set aside fitting in, for finding belonging with themselves by embracing who they really are, not who society wants them to be.
Of course that’s terrifying. Because when someone proves that the system isn’t the only system out there, they become a leader and innovator who no longer needs the approval of the old system.
Who else is scarier than someone who doesn’t need your approval to make things happen?
