The one good and bad thing about doing things in public is that there’s a record of what you’ve made. I can look back on my old artwork, or my old blog posts, or things I said on social media from years ago.
The bad – or maybe, less fun – part about this is that it’s somewhat embarrassing to see where you were when you first started. Being not great at something is a necessary part of growing and gaining skills. After all, the easiest way to make one good drawing is to make a thousand bad ones.
The awesome aspect of looking back at your archives is while it might be a bit painful to reconcile who you were, you can also now compare it to where you are now, and if you’ve stuck with it and made a true effort to improve, you’ll see how far you’ve come.
